Introduction

Elimbah State School was officially opened on Australia Day in 1916, with a student population of 15 in the rural community of Elimbah. Student numbers have grown steadily over the years to the current population of around 500.

Elimbah is now a rural/residential area located 6 kms north of Caboolture. It is situated at the base of the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains and is within easy reach of the aquatic pleasures of boating and swimming in Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast.

The numerous small farms in the area grow a variety of fruit crops including strawberries, pineapples and macadamia nuts. Many other crops are also grown e.g. vegetables and flowers. Horse events are also becoming a growth industry, with an Equestrian Centre being planned on the outskirts of Caboolture.

The area enjoys the best of both worlds, being a 1 hour drive from Brisbane and only 15-30 minutes to the fine dining and wineries of the hinterland between Montville and Mount Mee! For the yachties there is a Yacht Club on Bribie Island(approx 30 minutes away) with many events being held throughout the year.

The Caboolture area is fast becoming a centre for annual cultural events such as The Abbey Medieval Tournament, the Urban Country Music Festival and the Woodford Folk Festival as well as the annual Farm Fantastic Expo. There is also a new cultural centre, including an Art Gallery, being planned for the centre of Caboolture.
