Elimbah State School continues to implement the Australian Curriculum. The Australian Curriculum is a national curriculum, specifying curriculum content and achievement standards for students in years Prep (foundation) to year 10.
All students study English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Music, Art, Technology and Health and Physical Education (HPE). Students in years 5 and 6 study Mandarin Chinese as their Language other than English (LOTE). Our LOTE program offers integrated components with language learning complemented by cultural studies, art, craft and the appreciation of festivals. Culture is a central theme.
Literacy is taught in all subject areas. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are integrated within unit and lesson plans.
Our whole school focus is about improving student outcomes in reading and numeracy. We continue to implement our whole school reading program, which sees all students receiving small group explicit reading instruction at their appropriate reading level at least three times per week. This is our major strategy to help improve literacy outcomes for all students.
